Patient Services and Accounting System, Vrindaban - Blood Bank Component

The term "blood bank" typically refers to a division of a hospital laboratory where the storage of blood product occurs and where proper testing is performed to reduce the risk of transfusion related events. This includes compatibility testing for transfusion and may include blood donation processing, depending on the capabilities of the facility.

Donor is one who is donating the blood. Donors are of three types
  1. Replacement Donor: One who is donating blood for a particular patient.
  2. Voluntary Donor; One who is donating blood voluntarily (Not to any particular patient)
  3. Family Donor: One who is donating blood for his/her own family member.

The blood bank component was  introduced in  PSAS in August 2011 and it is running successfully till date. There are approximately 5 to 6 blood bags issued every day which makes it more than 1000 registrations annually and with the ease of registrations and record keeping it is increasing day by day. The Blood bank facility is not restricted to the hospital patients but it is also available for the needy coming from outside.

Scope of Blood Bank

There are various Blood bank activities under this which includes:-
  1. Donar Registrations form with the details of tests and their results conducted on him before donation.
  2. Collection of Blood process which includes details of blood collection.

Since blood bank is a part of National health program and therefore requires annual reports of the blood bank activities done by a particular bank. For this software also facilitates them to generate all kind of reports required which includes Blood donation record, Blood issued record, blood issued external, discarded blood record etc for the audit purposes which are later submitted to them.
